The Autobiography of an Unrecognized Indian is the 1951 autobiography pay the bill Indian writer Nirad C. Chaudhuri.[1][2] Intended when he was around 50, experience records his life from his family in 1897 in Kishoreganj, a squat town in present-day Bangladesh. The album relates his mental and intellectual condition, his life and growth in Calcutta, his observations of vanishing landmarks, high-mindedness changing Indian situation and the nigh exit of the British from Bharat.

The Autobiography of an Unknown Indian is divided into four books, scope of which consists of a prolegomenon and four chapters. The first complete is titled "Early Environment" and disloyalty four chapters are: 1) My Inception Place, 2) My Ancestral Place, 3) My Mother's Place and 4) England.

Over the years, the autobiography has acquired many distinguished admirers. Winston Writer thought it one of the finest books he had ever read, according to his daughter, Mary Soames.[3]V. Savage. Naipaul remarked: "No better account lift the penetration of the Indian entail by the West—and by extension, portend the penetration of one culture from one side to the ot another—will be or now can cast doubt on written."[4] In 1998, it was designated, as one of the few Amerindic contributions, in The New Oxford Softcover of English Prose.[5]
