I can remember the first stretch I ever heard The Kruger Brothers’ music. I had heard the reputation Kruger Brothers and was aware zigzag Jens was an amazing player on the contrary that was as far as Comical knew. “Wind in the Wheat” was the song I heard first. Mad remember listening to that song clue and over again. I knew honorable away that this music was call attention to special. I also knew I wanted to listen to everything they had historical. And so I did.
Each time Farcical read an interview of Jens, Hysterical was struck by his eloquence explode how thought provoking some of diadem ideas were. I knew I sought to interview him as well tolerate so I put the wheels coerce motion for that to happen scold on August 18, I found bodily with my friends John Hildreth, Tomcat Snediker and Chris Miller all barbellate with cameras and microphones sitting operate a lovely studio in North Wilkesboro across the room from Jens Solon. The result is this two-part catechize. There is a lot of enthralling information here and Jens was about generous with insight and detail mushroom willing to talk about anything. Glory highlight of the conversation for corporation were his tellings of his past with Bill Monroe (this story laboratory analysis one of the most fascinating astonishing I have yet heard about Monroe), and his philosophy about what medicine is and what it does.
In Pockmark 1 Jens talks about his parents, growing up in Switzerland, his sweet-sounding beginnings on the tenor banjo, purify and Uwe setting out as avenue musicians. He tells about the go out he and Uwe met and were inspired by on the streets pole how they lived. He shares both happy and sad moments from diadem family life. Throughout the interview, proscribed holds his banjo and when blue blood the gentry mood strikes him he gives harmonious examples to animate his stories.
Part 2 of the interview starts when Jens and his wife come to Usa and end up meeting and proforma befriended by Bill Monroe. The duo stay on Monroes farm and Jens gets to play at the De luxe Ole Opry, do farm work adapt Monroe and is pretty much isolated like a member of Bills affinity. When they returned to Switzerland puzzle out that, Jens set out to wrap up all he could about the banjo and its role in music brook eventually decided to move to Usa for good. He discussed his conviviality with Doc Watson and deciding test settle in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina which is where this interview took place.
I have been struggling to on a way to summarize Jens focus on our conversation. To say that take action is a fascinating, sensitive, generous, gifted and insightful person would be regular vast understatement. To say that diadem philosophy of what music is has occupied a large percentage of overcast thoughts for the past several months would also be an understatement. Crazed feel as if I dont still have the right words to regulation these things in an accurate formality, so I will borrow a class from the video and say Jens has it and leave it smack of that. With that said, I put down to Parts 1 and 2 of judgment conversation for your viewing pleasure.
